Insurance Credentialing Specialist

The Insurance Credentialing Specialist is responsible for leading, coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the timely enrollment of licensed staff with private and government insurers (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) to enable billing and reimbursement for services. This role includes completing and submitting initial credentialing applications, revalidations, and terminations with third-party payers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain staff credentials and provider numbers within the billing module of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including expiration/renewal dates of licenses and certifications, and effective participation dates with third-party payers.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle and CQI/EHR Administration Teams to resolve billing issues related to staff credentials.
  • Manage staff access to third-party payer portals used to verify insurance coverage.
  • Complete other revenue recovery activities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college in a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a healthcare setting. Experience in credentialing duties preferred.
  • Background Check: Candidates who are offered a position are required to undergo a background check and drug screen.
