Position Summary/Responsibilities

The Access Center Therapists provides screenings, intake assessments, and occasional hospital prescreening when needed for adults, adolescents, and children seeking services with BRBH. All therapists are crossed trained to assess for any age and any type of presenting issue, including mental health and substance use. The Access Center Therapist also participates in collaboration with referral sources and community agencies.

A Day in the Life of an Access Center Therapist

BRBH has Same Day Access for entry into most agency services. Each day, client's walk-in or are referred to BRBH to be assessed for services. A Therapist from the Access Center team collects presenting problem information, gathers appropriate social history, and performs clinical triage to determine what level of services are needed. The Therapist documents the information in the electronic health record. The Therapists also may travel off site locally to perform an assessment interview. All Access Therapists complete requirements to be Certified Prescreeners, thus enabling them to assess for need for psychiatric hospitalization if the individual presents as in crisis during the intake assessment. Our team of Access Therapists work closely together, providing support, consultation, and great comradery!

Hiring Range:

The anticipated base salary for the therapist position is $51,630.81 to $55,940.32. The anticipated base salary for the licensed therapist position is $66,627.61 to $70,937.12. Actual compensation offered within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities), geographic location, complexity of role, and other relevant business considerations. We kindly ask that candidates do not discuss compensation until after an offer of employment is extended.

Requirements

  • Education: This position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in a human services field that fulfills the criteria for eligibility for professional licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience which includes attainment of licensure (Licensed Therapist).
  • Licensure/Certifications: Required to pursue licensure as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), if not already licensed. Pursue and complete certification as a Certified Pre-screener within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Background Check: Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
  • Safe Driving Record: This position requires transporting clients or driving agency vehicles. Candidates must have a good driving record, which is defined as no more than two moving violations in the last three years and no criminal moving violations in the last five years.

Special Work Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, crawl and reach above their head. Use of hands for placing and pulling objects. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 20 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (computer and research). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones. Travel up to 12%. Travel is local. These functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
