Position Summary/Responsibilities

BRBH is seeking a Substance Abuse Clinician in Alpha Jail Services to provide group counseling to women participating in a recovery program located in the local jails. The Clinician spends approximately 20 hours per week in jails and assisting with outpatient treatment.

A typical day includes providing direct group counseling to 10 incarcerated residents. Residential inmates spend 45 days in the program while incarcerated, followed by another 24 weeks of outpatient treatment after they are released.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of counseling and the criminal justice system, be comfortable working independently in a controlled environment, and be a team player.

Hiring Range:

The anticipated base salary for this position is $43,022.07 to $45,890.21. Actual compensation offered within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities), geographic location, complexity of role, and other relevant business considerations. We kindly ask that candidates do not discuss compensation until after an offer of employment is extended.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an acceptable human service field required.
  • Experience: One year (1) of clinical experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health issues. 
  • Licenses/Certifications: CSAC preferred at time of hire. If not CSAC at time of hire, must complete requirements for the credential within two (2) years of hire.
  • Background Check: Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
  • Safe Driving Record: This position requires transporting clients or driving agency vehicles. Candidates must have a good driving record, which is defined as no more than two moving violations in the last three years and no criminal moving violations in the last five years.

Special Work Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach above their head. Use of hands for placing and pulling objects. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 10 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (Computer and Documentation). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones. Travel is 10%. Travel is local (Travel to local jails). These functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
