Therapist, Outpatient Counseling Services (Part Time)

Looking for flexible, part-time clinical work that fits around your schedule? Our Adult Outpatient Counseling Services program is seeking a licensed or license-eligible therapist for a 20-25 hour per week position designed with working clinicians in mind. With approximately 10 direct service hours per week, flexible scheduling within Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., and no weekends, this role offers a manageable way to earn additional income while doing meaningful, client-centered work. Whether facilitating groups or providing individual counseling, you'll join a supportive team focused on recovery, growth, and making a real difference in the community.

Pay: Additional compensation commensurate with experience.

  • Master's Degree: $24/hour. Degree must be eligible to register as a Resident in Counseling or Supervise in Social Work.
  • Licensed LPC or LCSW Pay: $31/hour.

Therapists in our Adult Outpatient Counseling Program provide counseling that assists clients in achieving and maintaining recovery from their substance use disorder, managing their mental health symptoms, and remaining in the community. Services are primarily provided in groups in a non-residential setting, and include Intensive Outpatient and Day Treatment groups. The therapist in this role may also provide individual counseling sessions.

What the week looks like for an Adult Outpatient Counseling Therapist:

The Therapist's week includes regularly scheduled groups that meet multiple times per week and are co-facilitated with another staff member. Between groups, the Therapist may meet with clients individually, complete assessments, or provide crisis intervention. The highlight of a Therapist's week is when a client has an "a-ha!" moment in a group or counseling session and makes decides to make a positive change in their life.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Possess knowledge and skills of treatment of population served, behavior modification, treatment planning, record documentation, de-escalation of volatile client situations, individual, group, and family counseling, and knowledge of human behavior.
  • Education/Licensure/Certifications: This position requires a Master's degree that is eligible to register as a Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work in Virginia. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will have a higher pay rate.
  • Safe Driving Record: This position requires driving agency vehicles and transporting clients. Candidates must have a valid Virginia driver's license with a safe driving record (no more than two moving violations in the last three years AND no criminal violations in the last five years).
  • Background Check: Candidates who are offered a position are required to complete a background check and drug screen.
