Position Summary/Responsibilities

Join a team dedicated to providing compassionate and effective mental health care to individuals in crisis. Our Emergency Services program provides on-site and telehealth crisis services and psychiatric hospital preadmission screening within local hospitals and jails.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct crisis assessments, including psychiatric history, medication compliance, and substance abuse evaluation.
  • Provide crisis counseling and intervention.
  • Collaborate with police, magistrates, doctors, and family members to determine best possible outcomes and appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide referrals for ongoing care, such as inpatient hospitalization or community resources.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, work well within a team setting, and can lead when individuals are in crisis. To be successful in this role you must have good communication and time management skills and be detailed oriented.

Hiring Range

The anticipated base salary for the therapist position is $58,058.01 to $62,367.52. The anticipated base salary for the licensed therapist position is $73,054.81 to $77,364.32. Actual compensation offered within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities), geographic location, complexity of role, and other relevant business considerations. We kindly ask that candidates do not discuss compensation until after an offer of employment is extended.

Requirements

  • Education: This position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in a human services field that fulfills the criteria for eligibility for professional licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia unless grandfathered prior to 2008.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience which includes attainment of licensure (licensed therapist).
  • Licensure/Certifications: Required to pursue and complete certification as a Certified Pre-screener within the first 6 months of employment. Required to pursue licensure as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Background Check: Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
  • Safe Driving Record: This position requires transporting clients or driving agency vehicles. Candidates must have a good driving record, which is defined as no more than two moving violations in the last three years and no criminal moving violations in the last five years.

Special Work Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, crawl and reach above their head. Use of hands for placing and pulling objects. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 20 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (computer and research). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones. Travel up to 12%. Travel is local.
