Residential Assistant (Night Shift)

Are you a team player, flexible, and have a desire to work with individuals during a critical time in their recovery from mental health or substance use disorders? BRBH is hiring for a Residential Assistant!

Schedule: Nights - 11pm-7:30am, alternating weekends.

Pay Rate: $16/hour. This position is eligible for 11% shift differential.

The Residential Assistant is responsible for monitoring client behavior on the Crisis Stabilization/Detox unit, assisting with rounds and reporting any abnormal findings to nurse on duty.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • assisting with admissions and discharges
  • answering the phone
  • completing and recording vital signs
  • assisting clients to groups and meals
  • providing client transportation as needed
  • completing medication pick-up
  • assisting in the kitchen as needed
  • responsibility for overall cleanliness of the unit including sanitizing beds, changing linens, mopping floors, emptying trash, sanitizing bathrooms

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Graduate or GED.
  • Safe driving record: This position requires being eligible to drive agency vehicles, so candidate must have an active, unrestricted driver's license with a good driving record (no more than two moving violations in the last three years and no criminal violations in the last five years).
  • Experience working directly with individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders is a plus!
  • Background Check: Candidates will be required to complete a fingerprint criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl and reach above their head. Use of hands for placing and pulling objects. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 50 pounds and pushes or pulls up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (driving). Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid will be required, training is provided after hire.

About Our Crisis Stabilization and Detox Unit:

Our unit provides short-term (3 to 15 day), in-patient stabilization for individuals who have symptoms of mental illness that could, if not addressed, result in a need for hospitalization. This service also offers medically supervised detoxification from alcohol and other drugs. Those needing both detoxification and support for symptoms of mental illness are served. Services are provided in a recovery-oriented environment, and include skills training, psychiatric care, 12-step recovery groups on-site, and discharge planning to assure continuity of care in transitioning to outpatient services.
