Director Prevention & Public Relations

Join our team as the Director of Prevention and Public Relations! BRBH is a leader in the field of prevention and wellness. In this role you will oversee and manage the school and community-based programs focused on preventing alcohol, tobacco, drug use, problem gambling, and other risk behaviors. As the primary spokesperson for BRBH, you will play a crucial role in shaping our public image and promoting our mission of providing comprehensive mental health, substance use, and developmental disorder services.

Competitive Pay: Range between $80,000 - $100,000/annual, pay is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for BRBH with the media, state and local representatives, community partners, and internal departments.
  • Develop and coordinate events that reduce stigma and promote education around mental health, substance use, and developmental disorders.
  • Oversee all agency publications, brochures, and informational materials.
  • Act as a strategic resource for the Executive Management team and build effective relationships with clinical and administrative agency divisions and programs.
  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight for Prevention and Wellness Services, including staff supervision and program operations.
  • Supervise planning and operations of community coalitions, such as the Roanoke Prevention Alliance, RAYSAC, and the Suicide Prevention Council of Roanoke Valley.
  • Seek funding for prevention and wellness activities and develop opportunities for sustainable revenues.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization, management, and applications for grant funds.
  • Oversee strategic planning, community needs assessment, service needs identification, and budget management.
  • Coordinate local, regional, and state prevention initiatives with statewide leaders.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: 4 years of supervisory experience in a human services program or public relations.
  • Safe Driving Record: This position requires driving an agency vehicle. Candidates must have a valid Virginia driver's license with a safe driving record (no more than two moving violations in the last three years AND no criminal violations in the last five years).
  • Background Check: Candidates who are offered a position must undergo a background check and drug screen.
